What TSA says about traveling with Breast Milk on a plane?
If you visit the TSA page dedicated to the rules for travelling with breast milk, you will see these detailed information about it :
To summarize it :
You can travel with breast milk and any other baby formula, even in quantities greater than 3.4 ounces, in both carry-on and checked bags.
It does not need to fit in a quart-sized bag.
You have to :
- Inform the TSA officer at the beginning of the screening process.
- Remove these items from your carry-on bag for separate screening.
TSA may need to test the breast milk and you can request not to X-ray it but have to accept additional check procedures. Related cooling accessories are allowed, even if they are partially frozen.
On twitter, TSA was asked about the same thing and the answer was yes and precised that there is no quantity limit.
Here is the tweet :
1: Breast milk is allowed in carry-on bags and can be more than 3.4 ounces per container. There's no limit on the total amount you may pack. You don't need to travel with your child to bring breast milk through security.
